ABSTRACT

Objective:To assess the validity of ultrasonic surveillance of percentage change in the levator ani hiatal antro posterior diameter (LHap) in the diagnosis of pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. Methods:Two hundred and forty seven women suspected to have pelvic floor disorder related symptoms from January to December 2017 were enrolled. Digital palpation of the puborectalis muscle using modified Oxford score grading system (MOS) was performed.Women with MOS point of 0, 1, 2, or 3 were defined as having low pubic floor muscle contraction (LPFMC), and those with MOS point of 4 or 5 were defined as having normal pubic floor muscle contraction (NPFMC). Then ultrasound measurement of LHap diameter at rest, at maximum contraction, and at the maximum Valsalva were performed in all women to calculate the percentage decrease on contraction (PDC%) and percentage increase on Valsalva (PIV%). Statistical analysis was performed to test the significance of differences in PDC% and PIV% between the LPFMC group and NPFMC group, and the ROC curve analysis was performed to evaluate the validity of using PDC% and PIV% for predicting LPFMC.Results:Compared with the NPFMC group, the PIV% of LPFMC group was significantly larger [(6.07±4.20)% vs (11.29±10.49)%, P<0.001], and the PDC% was significantly smaller [(31.36±3.34)% vs (17.66±10.82)%, P<0.001]. A cut-off of PIV%>5.19% predicted LPFMC with sensitivity 71.43%, specificity 57.89%, and the area under the ROC curve was 0.69. A cut-off of PDC%<25.37% predicted LPFMC with sensitivity 66.39%, specificity 97.37%, and the area under the ROC curve was 0.84. To diagnose LPFMC by the combination of PIV >5.19% and PDC%<25.37%, the sensitivity was 84.55%, the specificity was 55.00%, and area under ROC was 0.70. Conclusions:Ultrasonic measurement of percentage change in the LHap diameter is valuable for the diagnosis of pelvic floor muscle dysfunction.

ABSTRACT

Objective To measure the level of diamine oxidase (DAO), and observe the intestinal motor and mucosal barrier injury after acute spinal cord injury (SCI) in rats. Methods A total of 45 Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into SCI group (group A, n=15), sham group (group B, n=15) and control group (group C, n=15). SCI model was established with Allen's strike mode (10 g × 25 mm) by striking T10 spinal segment in rats. One day, three days and seven days after SCI, hind limb motor function was assessed with Basso-Beat-tie-Bresnahan (BBB) Scale in each group, the myoelectric slow wave and ileum smooth muscle contractility were measured in rats, ileum tis-sues were tested with HE staining, and the DAO content of serum was tested with ELISA kit. Results One day, three days and seven days af-ter SCI, the BBB score was significantly lower in group A than in groups B and C (P0.05). Group A showed ileal mucosal edema, lodging, inflammatory cell infiltration, and submucosal gap increase. The Chiu's score of intestinal mucosal injury was higher in group A than in groups B and C (P0.05). Conclusion Serum DAO content may respond to the intestinal motor function and mu-cosal injury after acute SCI in rats.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the feasibility and accuracy of osmometer in the osmolarity measurement of pirenoxinun sodi-um eye drops. Methods:An osmometer was used to measure the osmolarity of pirenoxinun sodium eye drops, and the stability of the osmolality was studied. Results:The osmolarity of pirenoxinun sodium eye drops with different formula conformed to the requirement of ophthalmic preparations. The osmolality showed no significant change at the ambient temperature, indicating the stability of the prepa-ration. Conclusion:The method is simple, rapid and practical, which can be used as the osmolarity measurement method for pirenoxi-nun sodium eye drops.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To explore the relationship between abnormal expressions of positive cell cycle control factors and thyroid carcinoma occurrence and progression, and assess the value of these factors in evaluating tumor cell proliferation activity and the prognosis of the patients.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expressions of MCM7, CDK2 and Ki-67 proteins in 50 cases of thyroid carcinoma, 30 cases of thyroid adenoma, 30 cases of nodular goiter and 20 cases of normal thyroid gland tissues.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The positive rates of MCM7, CDK2 and Ki-67 expressions in thyroid carcinoma were 100% (50/50), 80.00% (40/50) and 84.00% (42/50), significantly higher than the rates in thyroid adenoma, nodular goiter and normal thyroid tissue (P<0.01). In thyroid carcinoma tissues, positive correlations were observed between the expressions of MCM7 and CDK2 proteins (r=0.637, P<0.01), MCM7 and Ki-67 proteins (r=0.633, P<0.01), and CDK2 and Ki-67 proteins (r=0.862, P<0.01).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The high expressions of MCM7, CDK2 and Ki-67 protein may contribute to the development of thyroid carcinoma, and their combined examination may serve as useful index for early diagnosis and prognostic evaluation of thyroid carcinoma. MCM7 is superior to Ki-67 in the evaluation of the thyroid tumor cell proliferation activity.</p>

ABSTRACT

It is significant to develop a new set of medical equipment in which electrical impedance tomography is applied to brain hematoma real time monitor. This paper describes some progress in reconstruction algorithm of EIT. The methods make it possible to improve the precision as well as computation speed dramatically. In addition, intensive simulation describes all the process for real time monitoring of brain hematoma by exploiting EIT.

ABSTRACT

In this paper, a new imaging method to determine the position of blood effusions or edemas in the deep position of the brain by using electric current flowing through the brain is presented. Its principle is that the existence of non-normal matters in the brain cause a disturbance to boundary potentials, while a low frenqency current flows through the brain. In terms of the measurement for the change value of boundary potentials a reconstruction for the blood effusion or the edema in the deep position of the brain can be done.
